God in a Box Discussion Group
Thank you for the many comments and feedback from the God in a Box Series so far. Kyle’s number one goal with the series is not to provide black and white answers about Ai, but to get people thinking (hopefully Biblically) about their lives and the choices new technology brings them. Comments have ranged from “I have no idea what you’re talking about” to “I’m so glad you’re actually addressing this.” Regardless of where you’re at, hopefully you’re encouraged to more fully trust and obey God. It’s also such a broad topic, that a handful of people have asked if it would be possible to have a discussion outside of the sermons to ask clarifying questions and hear other people’s thoughts. In response to that, Kyle will be filling in for Chris V. during the Adult Sunday School hour at 11:00 AM the next two weeks and will use that time for a discussion about the series. You can ask any question about Ai, tech, the economy, theology, etc., and we will see where the conversation goes. No sign up needed, just feel free to join us in the chapel 2/15 and 2/22.
Team Emails and Lists
We now have a page in Church Center with a current list of our various ministry Teams, their emails and who will receive any email sent to the address listed. This list will probably continue to be reviewed as Team structures get cleaned up. Some teams currently operate as a whole group, while others act as a leadership team directing a larger group of volunteers. This is how these emails work: when someone sends a message to one of the emails such as “consistory@…” and “worship@…”, our email service distributes that message individually to all members of that email list. This makes it convenient to email a large group of individuals without having to remember who’s on the team or which email to use. However, these email should not be used for sensitive info or where you just need to talk to one person. The Teams Email page is meant to provide transparency about exactly who is being communicated with if one of the team emails is used. It also shows who is serving where.
To access the page, open the Church Center App or login to frcportage.churchcenter.com, select “More…”, then “Teams”. You can also click on the email addresses to directly start an email message to that Team.
New Projector and Sound Setup in the Fellowship Hall
The HDMI cable to the projector in the Fellowship Hall died recently. As a quick fix, Kyle purchased a wireless HDMI option, but yesterday, Kyle and Derek installed a hardwired HDMI input using a Cat6 HDMI extender as well. As part of the install, they moved the sound board cabinet to the right of the stage so that presenters can more easily plug in their devices and project both video and sound while controlling their own presentations. A new rolling standing desk was also purchased to facilitate presenting. An instruction sheet will be made up to guide presenters, but contact Kyle if you’d like a personal walk through of the setup.
Tidbits
- Gentleman, just a gentlemanly reminder that Saturday is Valentines Day. You’ve been warned.
- The dryer in the parsonage broke a belt. Kyle and the interns attempted a repair with a replacement belt, but only got three loads before the new belt broke. The Property Team quoted and the Deacon’s approved a replacement dryer.
- Softball season is quickly approaching and a sign up will available shortly.
