Greetings from Bayfield, WI! Don’t worry, there’s not much to report this week so I won’t spend much time “working”. Nikki and I are having a great get-a-way and are enjoying the beauty of Lake Superior. Today we sea kayak!

Nursery Coordinator Needed

Do you have an hour or two a week that you could devote to coordinating the care of babies and toddlers on Sunday mornings?  Do you want to serve parents of youngin’s by facilitating a kind, safe, and love-filled environment for children during services? Would you consider coordinating our nursery program? We are looking for an organized person with a heart for kids to head up the recruiting and scheduling of volunteers and the maintenance of the nursery room. Besides occasional meetings and training, the commitment should be 1-2 hours per week. Please email office@frcportage.org or contact Kyle if you’d like more information.

Men’s Jordan River Valley Overnight Hike – Oct. 18-19, 2024

Gentlemen: mark your calendars for one of the most beautiful hikes in our great state of Michigan. The Jordan River Valley hike is an 18 total mile trek split over two days in the Up North wilderness (Gaylord area). We leave early Friday morning to set up camp and hike half the trail. Then cook, sleep and hike the second half on Saturday, returning home Saturday evening. With a basecamp, you only need a day pack to carry a lunch. For those not up for the hike, it’s very helpful to have camp cooks! Middle Schoolers through grandpas welcome. More details to follow in the coming weeks.

Prayer

  • Jean Kiel (Pam Reeve’s mother) passed away this week. While grieving her loss, the family is grateful that she’s at rest and in the presence of Jesus!
  • Jackie Salvaggio (Deb Newhouse’s mom), who is now in hospice and declining. Please be in prayer for her and the family as they move through these final days.
  • Praise God for a successful surgery for Katie VandeVen and her mass removal.
  • The growth of the intern program and working out the logistics and admin.
  • For Kyle as he speaks to Grade Schoolers next week at Miracle Camp, for God to move in the hearts and minds of the young people!
  • Fall kick off and team planning.
  • A new nursery coordinator who will delight in serving our growing kiddos!
  • Pray for Betsy Brown’s recovery from her knee replacement.
