Hayden’s Send-off is this Sunday
Our official good-bye to Hayden will happen this Sunday. As the final part of the service, we’ll recognize Hayden for his faithful service these past two years and commission him for his next endeavor. Then immediately following the service, burgers and hotdogs and fixings will be served down in the Fellowship Hall. If your family is able, please bring some lawn chairs or blankets for outdoor seating to give our seniors the easier indoor seating. Table settings and drinks will be provided but please bring a dessert to share if you’re able!
Student Ministry Summer Schedule
The plans for our 6th-12th graders are out now. Kyle will be leading the youth group with help from parents and volunteers until we find our next student ministry leader. If you are a parent (or student) and DID NOT receive an email about the summer schedule, please let Kyle know so our email lists can be updated.
Team Leader Updates
Much of what First Reformed does is run by team ministry (Education, Mission and Outreach, Church Life, Worship, Tech and Security, Property, Prayer, and Finance). The Team Leaders had a good meeting Tuesday night going over details for upcoming events but also discussing strategy and administrative improvements that need to be made in order to keep growing towards a healthy and productive church. Teams exist to both accomplish work in each area, but also to give people areas to serve in. We are committed to growing in our leadership, which will help us accomplish the mission Jesus has called us to in Portage as well as engage volunteers.
We have some position updates:
- Chris VanDenOever is stepping down as Education Team Leader, a role he’s served in for more than a decade, to take the position of Teams Director, helping encourage and coordinate the Team Leaders.
- Tom St. Peter is also stepping down as Property Team Leader. Tom will continue to serve on the team, managing the larger scale maintenance projects like the bell tower and roof projects, allowing the next leader to focus more on the daily property and facility upkeep.
We are grateful for how these gentleman have served in the past and for their continued service in their new roles. Consistory will get underway in identifying and nominating their replacements.
