We’re hiring! Our previous student ministry intern has graduated from college and is off to pursue his career path in finance. But he’s left us with some movement up and to the right! From no programs and only a handful of youth attending our church to a middle school group of 5-10 students and high school group of 15-20 average attendence, the snow ball has been formed. Are you the next person to push it down the hill?

We’re looking for a college-age or twenty-something (or crazy cool retiree???) to build relationships with our middle and high school students and plan youth group meetings and events that help them build relationships with each other and most-importantly, Jesus. This person should be relatively organized, able to take basic directions and bring them to life with joy and personality, and really like other people. This person will work with the Senior Pastor for personal growth and discipleship as well as leadership training.

Experience with another youth group, summer camp or para-church ministry is a plus, but we understand those on the younger side will not have a lot of experience (that’s what an internship is for!), so the main requirement is a sincere faith, humble spirit, and willingness to serve.

What’s the rest of the church like?

Old. Jk jk. Sort of. We are a church in transition. Two years ago, we were 50% 55+, but those numbers have been coming down significantly and there are more youth and younger families attending. Additionally, we have 2-3 visitors/families trying us out every week, so there’s some buzz. That said, change is hard and even though the general consensus is a desire to grow and reach the community, the reality of that is harder to accept. Your work will directly contribute (for better or worse) to the awakening and enliving of a church with a rich history. This is more than maintaining a relatively healthy program; this is about moving forward with real ministry in the name of Jesus Christ, both outside and inside the church.

How do I apply?

Read through the relatively short job description available here, then pray about it. Maybe put out a fleece. If God doesn’t say no, then email or call Kyle (Senior Pastor) to discuss the position. If after that discussion you are still interested, you’ll be sent an application form requesting some basic contact info, answers to a few short answer questions, and references. The church will follow up on that application, then notify you of whether or not we will move forward with an in-person interview. We promise to keep you informed of our process as we go.
